Go By Bike Day will be happening again all over NZ on Wednesday 17 February 2010, where thousands of Kiwi's will strap on their helmets and try getting around in a more active, healthy and money saving way. Go By Bike Day is a great way to encourage Kiwi's to leave the car at home and try cycling to work or school for a day. It's fun, easy and costs nothing!
Our coordinator information page details how to organise a Go By Bike Day event in your area.
On Wednesday 18 February 2009 New Zealanders were encouraged to ditch vehicular transport and 'go by bike' instead.
Around 8000 people from 55 towns and cities around New Zelaand cycled to their local event where they were rewarded with a scrumptious healthy breakfast.
The events are coordinated by local and regional councils, sports trusts, cycle groups and other organisations with an interest in biking. A big thanks to all those hard-working people for making Go By Bike Day 2009 such a success.
We'd love to publish your pictures and stories of previous Go By Bike Day events. Send us a photo! or email your story to bikewise@nzta.govt.nz
