At dusk and dawn, in rain and low light, make sure you’re high vis and have lights on your bike!
First piloted in 2012, Be Bright is a key Bike Wise initiative designed to improve cyclists' safety especially during times of low-light and low-visibility conditions. Bike Wise and the NZ Police promote the use of front and rear lights and high-visibility clothing in order to reduce risks to cyclists during low-light periods at dawn and dusk and in poor weather.
For the second time in under a year, Waihi East School students have enjoyed the opportunity to rub shoulders with an Olympic athlete. That’s because Alison Shanks, Olympic cyclist and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, recently visited the school to gave an inspiring talk, emphasising the importance of dreaming big and sharing goals to gain support in the realisation of dreams.Read more
